Asians in East Africa
This slim but fascinating volume by a Professor at Erasmus University in the Netherlands uses photographs, cabinet cards, postcards and other material to illustrate the lives of Indians in East Africa from the late 19th through early 20th century.

This little known history, told here in the stories of two families, one Hindu and one Muslim, sheds light on a little known part of Raj and African colonial history.

Dr. Oonk's associated website also includes other photographs and visual material, as well as two PDF files that expand his research on the Indian diaspora in East Africa. Much of Prof. Oonk's research is based on his fieldwork in the region.
