Gateway to India 1948
The Imperial War Museum covers British conflicts in the 20th century, and is especially strong in film, video and sound material. Its photographic materials are especially relevant to the NWFP and Afghanistan conflicts from World War I until Independence.

Its growing online catalog lists over 8,000 India-related items, over 800 of which are photographs. The Museums also sells images online for commercial use, and is easily accessible to scholars and researchers visiting London.

The collection includes a large amount of British art, ephemera, uniforms and war-related physical objects, as well as 10 million images.
