The Royal Geographical Society has a long connection with expeditions across the globe and in India. The learned society, a professional body for geography and geographers, was established in 1830 to advances geographical science. Its online library has nearly 1500 India related images from the 19th and 20th centuries.

The Society is also making available its images in teaching kits for schools like its recent Pictures of the Punjab series which includes everything from lesson plans to image packs relating to the partition of Punjab province in 1947, all freely download-able as PDFs.
