First Shots, National Amy Museum
Using some of the earliest photos in the collection of the National Army Museum in London, this exhibition explores very early war photography - and the first known war photographs were taken in what is now Pakistan.

The other major photographer on view here is Felice Beato, whose photographs of Lucknow and elsewhere in the spring of 1858 remain some of the most famous and startling images of war and the devastation it wrought on a city and its culture.

This seems like a most appropriate exhibition to hold, given the conflicts of today and their eerie way of recalling past events.

NAM's collection of material is one of the best. Our article on war photography in India and Afghanistan describes some of the work of McCosh, Beato and other photographers who followed them.
